The One Who Is Ready

When the sea is calm, which ship is soundly built
no one can tell.
But when the calm sea raises great waves
and they come rushing at the ships,
then the well-built ship shows its true worth.
One made ready by the Word, while the world is at peace and life is comfortable,
does not stand out.
But when waves sweep over the world and the bright light is covered over,
from then on the Word will begin to move.
One who is ready, even when the waves of the world rage,
even when darkness rushes in to tear down their faith,
can never be broken,
and that great power cannot be hidden.
Only one who is ready knows God’s will;
only one who is ready, looking at me,
even if the way is as narrow as a thread,
will go on singing praise.
So that I can board your boat at any time,
be one who is ready.
