The Parable of the Fish

Look closely at a fish.
When you see a young fish, you cannot yet tell what kind it is
or what shape it will take,
but in time a beautiful color, beautiful lines,
beautiful markings, a beautiful form appear,
and simply by staying still before people, it wins their love.
In the same way, the first or second time you read the Bible through, you may not grasp much,
but as you read it again and again you will grow wise,
and you will surely meet me.
A day will come for you, too,
when like the fish you show your beauty;
so lean on the Holy Spirit to keep on growing.
