God’s Rebuke

Are you fit to rebuke the believers?
As I see you, you do the same.
I called you, but you called the world.
I looked at you, but you looked at the world.
I took hold of you, but you took hold of the world.
What will you do?
If I cast you away, could you blame me?
If I hated you, could you tell me not to?
You foolish one,
how hard it is for me to love you and hold you close,
and you have received love and still you do this?
How hard it is for me to call you my child,
and you are held fast and still you do this?
Do not do this,
for I will let you go, for I will hate you.
Do not do this.
How many there are who, to receive my love, cling to me
and beg for it!
I love you—how can you be proud?
Repent.
Repent.
As much as I love you, so much must you repent.
Do you think there is time?
Do you think you have time?
Do you think you have time?
How much time do you have left?
Now I have grown weary of watching you; what will you do?
My beloved, why do you look at the world?
My beloved, why do you not listen to my voice?
My heart aches, my heart aches,
and I cannot show it all to you; what will you do?
What will you do now?
Why do you not consider my heart,
why do you not look at my tears,
why do you not take hold of the hand I hold out to you?
Hold on to me, and let us be together.
