The Road God’s People Walk

Do you know how my people ought to live in this world?
If you knew, you would never fix your eyes on the world.
Picture a high cliff where even one step is hard to take;
the ones picking their way carefully along it are my people.
Afraid of falling over the edge,
they walked with care. Then, toward them,
Satan began to play the pipe of the world’s temptations,
and many danced to its tune
until they fell from the cliff.
They should have come on, looking only to me ahead of them,
but their eyes and ears were open to the world,
so temptation deceived them, and they danced.
Without a whole heart and a whole faith,
it will be hard for anyone to survive.
