Suffering Is a Passing Wind

You are a tree with deep roots.
Rooted like that, you need not be afraid
of the wind that shakes your branches as it passes.
Do not complain that the wind is a bother.
For suffering is only like a passing wind.
Just as no one watches a wind go on its way
and complains about it,
whoever watches suffering go on its way
and complains about it is a fool.
Only with that wind can you grow,
and what you must have in order to grow
is a strong wind that drives the rain in; do not forget that.
