A Camel’s Ankles Are Thin, But

A camel’s ankles are thin indeed.
I often thought I was as thin and frail as a camel’s ankles
and could do nothing at all.
But one day the Father quietly calls me.
“My child, what do you think of a camel’s ankles?”
“Father, I think they are very thin. I think I am as thin and weak as a camel’s ankles.”
The Father speaks once more.
“My child, a camel’s ankles are thin, but above those ankles
think of its huge body.
This is the blessing I give you.
How many loads do those ankles bear, along with that huge body?
That is just it.
The blessing I give
is not something frail, like a camel’s ankles as people see them;
those four ankles look frail,
but, helping that huge body go anywhere,
they hold tremendous power.
