Is There an End?

People think life has an end.
What do you think?
When your train winds around the foot of mountain after mountain,
it seems there will be nothing but mountains forever;
but if, as you round that slope,
there is the sea on one side
and a field of flowers on the other,
how splendid and how happy that life would be!
Like the tunnel that frightened you on the train,
the picture of a life is never only one scene.
Even when a person puts off the body, it is never the end.
So do not be proud, and do not despair.
