True Love

I am always afraid
that God’s love for me might grow cold.
I am always afraid
that God might be disappointed in me.
But this is what he tells me:
that he has never once not loved me,
that he has never once pushed me away,
that he has always held me in his heart and loved me,
and that he, too, has always been afraid my love might grow cold.
