The Broken Vessel of Faith

The Lord showed me a great vessel lying broken.
When you glue a broken vessel back together,
what do you call it?
You would still call it a vessel.
And what do you call someone who goes to church?
You would call them a saint, just the same.
Do you put treasured things in a broken vessel?
I, too, do not put a saint without faith to honored use.
What would I put in such a vessel?
Power, wealth, wisdom, love, the word—
which of them could I pour in?
The chance of blessing does not come whenever you want it.
Whoever does not hold fast to me, Jesus, cannot even repent at will.
Do you know that a great vessel, once broken, makes a worse mess
and is harder to throw away?
