Patient Love

Souls wandering in the power of darkness —
even in a brief blackout, do you not grope your way along?
You know where everything is, and even what it is used for,
yet you cannot move as you wish.
In the same way, those in the power of darkness
know that this is filthy conduct and that they must get out of it,
but they are so filthy that they cannot come out into the light.
Then you must see that even one drop of water is what
their thirsting spirits long to drink.
They are so filthy that they do not want to mix with you;
go to them, wash them with the Word and wash them again, and when they have gained assurance,
lead them out to the banks of the ever-flowing stream.
That is the way that leads to the light,
the way that leads to the water of life, where no one thirsts.
So no soul is yours to judge,
and no soul is yours to give up on.
