This Is the Heart with Which to Take Communion
Quietly and carefully I ask:
– With what heart would you have me and the believers come to Communion?
“This is the heart with which to take Communion.
Imagine that you and I are alone together in a small room.
Tomorrow I am going to die for you,
and looking at you, I have confessed that I love you
and confessed that I forgive you.
And I will gladly die for you —
I am telling you so with joy.
How would your heart feel then?
With a heart that sorry and that thankful
I hope you will come to Communion.
If you come to Communion with that heart,
you will be able to feel deeply what was in my heart that night.”
