You Would Have Believed in Me

— The Lord showed me the scene of his temptation by Satan:
“Not there, but here, at this very hour, in this very place,
even if you had been with me,
you would have trusted that I would drive off Satan’s temptation and win.
Wouldn’t you?
Because you believe in me and love me.
And I, too, trust you to do well.
All those crowds said they believed in me,
but when I truly wanted them by my side, they forsook me.
They handed even their own crosses over to me
and went away.”
— Lord, forgive my lack of faith.
