The One Who Carried the Cross
A single beam of light is shining on him.
Perhaps, because he had the light, he was all the easier to see.
People go wild at his light and his miracles,
but he stands calmly, all the more humble.
For what they wanted was the world,
and no one knew when they might throw stones.
Since all he had to give them was the word of truth,
he cast the word of life toward them.
But they cast that truth away,
and the one who would not give them the blessings of the world
they nailed to the cross.
