You Whom I Love
As I brought out a book of prayers under the title *You Whom I Love*, I was personally very glad, because it lets me tell you how full of love God is. A book of sermons has its limits in conveying all of God’s love, which is generous and honest and overflows like the sea.
Like you, I pray to God every day, and I was always wondering: How does God see a problem like this? What kind of faith does God want me to live by? How am I to get through this suffering? As I prayed with these questions, I came to feel God’s love quietly spreading. I wrote that love down so that I would not forget it, and that record is *You Whom I Love*.
God’s love is unconditional, and he is a Father who wants his children to be clothed in his glory. I hope that you will look a little more closely into that Father’s heart and that you too will live according to the Father’s will. Like parents who laugh along when their child laughs, our Father would dance for joy when you sing praise to him, and when you call to the Father with your voice, he answers, louder than your voice, that he is here and that he loves you.
I would like your hearts to find peace and rest as you read the prayers in *You Whom I Love*. We are children who serve so wonderful a God. I hope you will not forget that God is there, moving heaven and earth and the angels to protect you, and that you will stand all the firmer in this harsh world and live it out by faith.
This is what God would say.
He would say that if you come to heaven, you will be amazed and amazed again at how many people went to hell and how few are in heaven. You say that because you believed in Jesus and because you went to church, you can go to heaven; but he would ask why, if it were that easy, he would have carried the cross.
I received God at the age of twenty-nine. Because I met God late, I wanted to know him all the more, so I began to read the Bible. I read forty chapters a day, day after day, for ten years, and I began to see God, about as much as the point of a needle. Of course, there are times now when I feel apologetic, wondering whether I am so busy writing sermons that I am failing to keep my first love.
How much of the Bible are you reading? When I had read through the Bible about forty times, there was a voice I heard quietly in my heart. With every event and every person, something came clear to me. Wondering whether the Holy Spirit was giving me wisdom, I read the Bible all the more diligently, and prayed. I longed to write sermons through which believers could meet God easily, and that longing led me to train myself to pray for long hours.
How much do you read the Bible each day, and how much do you pray? If you truly want to meet God, you must read the Bible. If you want to know what God wants, what kind of life he wants you to live and how much he loves you, you must pray. Then God will see the fullness of your spirit, and he himself will show you his heart.
Satan is working hard to hinder the saving of souls. How will you stand against him? Unless you run into God’s arms, the way a child afraid of a fierce dog runs into its father’s arms, you will not overcome Satan. To flee quickly into God’s arms, you must read the Bible and pray. Then, when Satan attacks, God himself will be a fence around you—you who are always full of the Word—and will keep him off. So Satan will back away of his own accord.
I hope you will praise our loving God all the more. I hope you will depend all the more on the God who gives grace. Then God’s love and grace will fill your lives to overflowing.
This is grace I myself received, but I earnestly hope that you will read these prayers, see how much God loves believers, and come to love God all the more. I give you this book hoping that God will warm the hearts of all the believers who read *You Whom I Love*.
Lastly, after sharing the book we published in 2017 with many people, our church brought out *You Whom I Love* again in 2019, in a second printing. I am glad that we can feel God’s heart together with even more people.
