Take Heed to Fulfill the Ministry You Have Received in the Lord

Watching the apostle Paul preach the gospel to the church in Colossae with an earnest heart, I thought that believers in Christ must have an honest faith like Paul’s. He was a man who had lived out the law thoroughly in his life, yet the moment he met Christ he threw away everything he had and obeyed Christ. It is never easy to throw away even one’s own life as though it were rubbish. Yet Paul gave up everything, his family and even the glory of the world, and lived for Christ alone. This must be the kind of faith God desires of believers.

As I preached through Colossians, I thought that believers should follow the example of Paul’s unwavering faith. If, instead of trying to change the world and their circumstances, they first grow through the word themselves, they can bring change wherever they go, as Paul did. But believers try to change the world, the church and the family by their own strength, and so in the end they can do nothing. When we have the faith to proclaim the truth boldly in any situation, Satan will attack as strongly as our faith is strong, but we can endure and win.

When believers who are not swayed by the trends of the world, and who walk only the way of truth, do their part wherever they are, the kingdom of God will expand. If you give yourselves humbly in the lowest place, God will entrust weak souls to you and enable you to fulfill your calling according to his will. What state is your faith in now?
